Islamic Society of Geelong (Geelong Mosque)

Attended the mosque open day. The mosque was not easily accessible for people with mobility issues. Had to carry an 18kg mobility walker up 3 stairs into mosque and about 7 steps into the main hall where the activities were hosted. Male volunteer on the day just watched and didn't offer assistance. One female offered assistance when I reached the top step into the hall. And a general member of the public helped me carry the chair down the 3 stairs when I exited. I would not recommend attending the mosque during special events when they limit the access / pathways into the venue. Consideration should be given to creating ramp access into main hall and sisters hall and having wheelchair accessible toilets. Edited to add based on the reply: None of these ramps were accessible or available on the day. The volunteer also did not offer any "portable" ramp on the day when I asked about access. If there are indeed ramps available it should be freely available at all times. I was also not advised of this when I messaged the mosque directly. This was their response: "...We do have an accessibility ramp leading to the Masjid's front entrance. We have also requested the issue of a disability parking area with the Council; however, the Council declined it due to road safety concerns for other road users. Sad that you didn't get the service you expected. I will bring up your concerns with the management team..."

Really nice place. Come early to find parking close by. I was told they have 2 Juma.

Very nice and beautiful masjid in the heart of the small town surrounded by Muslims shops and eateries where you can take a break while you are driving on the coast from Great Ocean Road or Warrnambool or that side…. Clean and spacious place with Ladies and Gents wash room and wudhu area… with ampul of parking the streets.

The only mosque in the city of Geelong. Can't be much better than what it is right now. Spacious and well maintained premises. It usually overwhelms during Friday prayer that is a positive sign of growing Muslim community around. Society members look after it pretty well and it has got all kind of ameneties a place of worship should have. It even has a place of 'ghusl' for deceased ones.

Very beautiful Masjed, which is managed by very active group. Thank you for ISG management & other volunteers.
