Source: GoogleAlthough I enjoy the pool itself @ Splashdown & most Staff are friendly & helpful - I agree with a previous review that the family/disability change rooms @ Splashdown are the worst in Geelong - I've told Staff & shown them multiple times the issues surrounding safety & cleanliness. No changes. Dangerous heavy shower seats not screwed down properly (one only lifts halfway up & gets stuck on the wall - old & current scratch marks have gone rusty from not being attended to) when the seat doesn't quite reach if you're not strong enough - it suddenly slams down & makes a hell of a noise. If a child or disabled person was near that at the time they could be injured. The heavy shower seat in the other family/disability change room has been missing a peice for more than a year & your legs can get pinched in the gap between. Not nice. I have also complained often about the shower water heating in the family/disability change rooms - asking why is there only one water temperature? The water comes out hot - with no cooling options only one temperature. The floors often feel slimy like they haven't been cleaned properly. After telling Staff time & time again & nothing happening, I will need to write to the council & provide the photos of the safety & hygiene issues. As the pool near where I live in the Bellarine is not completed yet, Splashdown is 25km away from where I live, Leisure Link & Aquatic pools are much better with no safety or hygiene issues- but they're 40km from where I live, so Splashdown is my closest pool that has the spa & properly heated pool that I need for my health needs. Ocean grove pool caters mainly for learner swimmers & I only get to use half a lane with everyone else in it - if I'm lucky to get a lane at all. However sometimes when able I do the long drive to Leisure Link or Aquatic pool as I come out feeling relaxed & happy not hot & stressed. I am a middle aged woman with a disability needing to feel safe & relaxed. I love my pool exercises & get a lot of health benefits from this. Come on Splashdown, talk to the City of Greater Geelong please - do what evever you need to do to keep everyone safe & clean. I am a paying Member & I deserve to feel safe as everyone does.
Good pool, great gym, facilities fine. Staff lovely. However change rooms have a lot of improvement… “family” change rooms are nothing short of disgusting with only a singular plastic chair in the corner and a dirty basin in attempt differentiate it from a stall in the main toilets. Last time I went in the floors were absolutely filthy, rubbish on the ground, hair on the floor and general grubbiness and they all smelt like urine. There is no way I’d take my kids in there. Main change rooms not practical for families but at least I don’t feel like I’d catch a disease from way I do in the family rooms. Really need to up your game Leisurelink seem to have no issues with the family/accessible rooms and overall a lot cleaner, I do like this pool as it is local to us but find the change situation hard with multiple children of different gender
I had a welcoming & smiling young lady named Ali assist me in the gym this week. New to the wonders of modern gym equipment, I was patiently shown how the machine settings worked, their safety aspects and suggestions about exercises that shouldn't exacerbate an old injury. It was awesome to watch Ali display the same genuine smile and friendliness to everyone who was in the gym. I also had a spa which was relaxing and not too hot. A very clean & well run centre with friendly staff, the only downside is no cafe onsite. Cheers, Joanne
Good facilities and staff are helpful and friendly in everyway also change rooms are kept clean and tidy. And the pools are in excellent order including the play park wet area. Also it has a waterside for all ages to enjoy when it's running.
Gym quiet, generally clean and helpful staff. Changerooms could use a clean more regularly. Smell can be off putting. If I don’t use those, great facilities!
