Armstrong Barbecue

I’ve seen my fair share of BBQ in the states and I’ve tried many in Australia. This has to be by far the best BBQ all around experience I’ve had in Oz. The location is perfect—spacious, well organized, and comfortable. The service is friendly from start to finish. The BBQ is delicious—seasoned and cooked well, and the offerings remind me of home. We loved it so much after we tried it for lunch that we went back on our way back up to Melbourne after our adventure. We’re talking about heading back down to Geelong/Great Ocean Road and going again on the way down and back up. Usually I find myself thinking at other places that the meat was good but the sides lacked, or vice versa but not here! Everything was delicious and the sauces too, and I’m definitely a sauce gal. Also, I always steer away from Pina Coladas because they’re usually all sugar but I had one there for the first time since 2012 and it was fantastic. Just an all around good time, good food, and good people!

These guys are legit- proper Texas style where they prepare it right in front of you. Bit of a line at the counter but it moved quickly. Shared a platter between two of us and everything on it was absolutely delicious. Brisket was top notch. Pork, beef cheek, sausage, again all top notch. The sides game is on point too- We happened to be travelling through the area and drove by this place, but now we know it’s there will likely be travelling from Melbourne to enjoy again. Worth a trip.

Armstrong Barbecue is a great place for beef lovers. You can enjoy proper food and good drinks in a cosy and relaxed setting. The pulled pork and brisket were my favourites; both were full of flavour and very well cooked. A great spot if you enjoy real barbecue.

An excellent way to end our vacation before heading home on The Spirit of Tasmania! Real authentic Texas Barbecue!! Tender brisket, (offered a choice of lean or fatty), pork ribs that slid off the bone, sides were awesome too! Meal served on a tray, just like when in Texas!! All staff were friendly and genuinely happy, which was so nice to see!! Humble owner, obviously proud of his team, and was hands on with tasks and not just supervising - very impressed. We'll definitely be back, just so sad you're so far away from where we live.

Superb experience at Amstrong Barbecue, staff explained clearly to us what to order for two person. Sausage was phenomenal, Black Angus was unique and must try. Pulled Pork little bit dry to our liking. Perfect size for the sides. Sauces were good too! Will come back for Pork Belly.
