Baums Weir

Great sup on the river in the early morning with nothing but rabbits and bird life for company..great way to pass a few hours

Baums Weir is situated across the Barwon River, about 1:5kms Upstream from Fyansford Paper Mill and can be accessed from both sides of the Riverbank with the Baum Weir having a narrow top to Walk On. Only for the "Brave" though! The Baum Family were Early Settlers in the Greater Geelong Region, who owned the Bluestone Quarries nearby, where the Stone was quarried and used to build the Fyansford Water Race and the Weir. The Baums Weir was constructed to divide the Barwon River and Hydraulically channel the Water along the Water Race to large Filtration Ponds behind the Fyansford Paper Mill, to wash brown pulp into White Paper.

Great location for a walk or to get onto the Barwon River in your yak. No toilets

Nice spot for a picnic, don't tell anyone though there is only one table.
