Moolap Car Care

Couldn't recommend these guys enough! Twice now I've had car issues and called and explained what's happening & Jag & reception have moved things around to get my car fixed and back on the road, whilst also providing a hire car for me to use in the meantime. Great communication throughout, reasonable prices and very accommodating!

Last Saturday morning I departed from my Caravan Holiday in Portarlington, on my way home to Croydon in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. I noticed that the van was not towing very well and a tyre pressure light had come on in my car. I also needed petrol so I pulled into the Shell service station. I discovered one of my tyres was almost completely flat and the air compressor at the service station would not work. I wandered over to Moolap Car care and the guy on duty said to pull the car (and caravan) up to the front of the workshop. He inspected the tyre and located a nail in it and also advised that it was not repairable due to the location of the nail. He agreed to fix it immediately and whilst I was still in the office talking to him, another guy, who I initially thought was a customer as he was in street clothes, had already began jacking up the car. It turns out that this was Ted, also an employee of Moolap Car care who was not even on duty but was in the workshop dealing with another car. Long story short, the tyre was changed and I was back on the road within half an hour. The punctuality, efficiency, professionalism and courtesy shown to me by the staff was first class. Brilliant service.

Took my car in for a service and to get a strange vibration in the front end fixed. During the service they replaced the drive belt at 130 extra, which now squeels. When I returned to get the vibration fixed, they replaced the front drive shafts,even though only the boots had perished(700 in parts) they also replaced the front universal joint, and said everything was fixed. Spoiler, it wasn't. 1700 later I'm driving away having not had anything fixed. I returned and pointed this out, where I was told that I told them to fix specific parts, and that the car was old and worn out and that the wheel bearing needed replacing , and would cos 300 in parts an two hours labour. To their credit after some back and forward, they offered do the work for the price of the parts, which I provided from a Melbourne company new for 100. Rang twice to make sure the work was done during the day, and the whe I got there they ambushed me with having replace the other wheel bearing without telling me, and expected me to pay for that. In the end I they didn't make me pay. But I'm never going in there again.

The crew at Moolap were great. I came over from Gippsland to look at a second hand vehicle and after phoning several mechanics mid afternoon to try book a pre purchase inspection that day (tough ask), Moolap said ‘no problem’. They shifted a couple things around to fit me in and took the time to talk me through the RACV reports so I understood what I was buying…they even lent me a charger to recharge my ph while I waited. Wonderful customer service and so helpful! I was able to drive home in my new car that day thanks to Moolap. Thanks team 🙏 btw - they have the cleanest, tidiest workshop I have ever seen in my 30yrs of driving!!!

I had my car serviced here at molap car care today and they had my car ready in 2 hours! That'a fast service! They even fitted me in on a Friday on the same day I called which is amazing! I put my car in to get my brake pads swapped over and brake rotors machined. The service took a little longer than they had said, but they stuck to their original price which was great customer service! The price of the overall service was reasonable and they had a hire car available from $22. Overall, great experience 👍
