Wonderfully clean and organised with so many pretty shapes and colours. I came here with a humble goal of visiting for the first time. I walked here and by the time I arrived I had a fair hunger on me. I only got a curry pie. As odd or banal as it is, a curry pie is my litmus test for a new bakers. I could have ordered and eaten many, so many other items (the aforementioned pretty shapes and colours). The pie had a good powdered curry flavour. The top was able to lifted off partially (I am a lid-off guy). The base was a tad soft and needed carefully, strategic handling to avoid it splitting. That minor crisis resolved, I was able to enjoy the crust, the flaking, and (ngl) the slurping of the curried mince). I would have taken more pics because the interior is genuinely pretty and neat however I am sometimes shy and always respectful of other patrons.

Porter Ave Pies & Cakes has quickly earned a reputation as one of Victoria’s standout bakeries, and after two visits in as many days, it is easy to see why. Every item we tried reflected exceptional craftsmanship, balanced flavours, and a genuine passion for quality. Our first visit featured the December Pie of the Month: turkey breast with Camembert and cranberry, a sophisticated combination that was rich yet delicately balanced. The honey bourbon chicken pie offered a subtle sweetness with depth, while the jalapeño beef chuck pie provided a well-judged heat that enhanced rather than overwhelmed the filling. The vanilla slice with passionfruit frosting was a highlight — crisp pastry layers with a vibrant, fresh finish. The following day delivered equally impressive results. The bestselling chunky Angus beef pie was hearty, generously filled and perfectly seasoned. The curry pie was aromatic with layered flavour, and the lemon meringue mini tart struck a superb balance between citrus brightness and sweetness. The honey-kissed cake was light, fragrant, and beautifully textured. This place isn’t just a bakery. It’s a pilgrimage site for pastry lovers. If you’re not willing to drive half an hour for it, you simply haven’t met the right pie yet.

Stopped in on our holiday as I’ve heard amazing things about this place And my god were they ALL right Prices are a little high but for the quality I think they are justified I had a steak jalapeño & 3 cheese pie The pastry was perfect and held up no issues The filling was a perfect mix of quality steak, jalapeños and gravy And the cheese wasn’t cheap quality oily stuff I’ll definitely be coming back whenever I’m in Geelong

First time visiting this bakery, and if I’m being honest, it’s a little hard to get a car park at times, and you can see why! My son and I bought a few items, including a pie, sausage roll, vanilla slices, tarts, donuts, and a hot & cold coffee, because we honestly wanted to try everything. As an avid coffee snob, their iced latte’s were one of the best I’ve had in Geelong, and just by trying it as I got in the car, I knew the rest of the goodies we had purchased would be just as good. I often buy my pies from another bakery that has won awards (not mentioning names) and I’m honestly blown away at how Porter Ave just blows theirs out of the water. The pastry, so light and buttery, yet it holds the pie together so perfectly, the meat & gravy perfectly seasoned, and doesn’t have chewy bits like other pies have. Shed a little tear with joy that I have found a place so close to home that has decent pies. Only downside of this place is now I will be fat and broke spending all my money here, highly recommend you come and purchase some yummy treats and a coffee from these guys. Customer service was top notch too, with friendly staff that worked promptly but didn’t make me feel rushed too.

The best take away bakery ever the pies and pastries are so delicious. Today I got my fav curry pie and John got lamb and rosemary to take home for lunch. We decided to grab the pie of the month chunky beef cheese and jalapeño wow that didn’t even get home we devoured that in the carpark half each and both decided it was the new favourite. I’ve got it in my head Sunday easy dinner while watching football. Yes that pie with mash And a nice salsa on top and a spoon of sour cream Mexican salad to accompany. Yum. They also make an amazing vanilla slice so fresh and they are still crunchy base…… perfect
