Source: GoogleAbsolutely lovely experience here. If you're an animal lover and would like an Asian staycation, this place is for you! We booked through Geelong Short Stays for our first visit to Bancoora-in. The hosts were absolutely lovely and so kind. It's amazing that the creation of the resort was a family project. Our room - the bamboo room - was divine. It was clean, authentically designed, had quality furnishing, lovely shower (and impressive water pressure) and the bed was so comfortable. And don't get me started on the onsen bathtub. The overall room interior design is a masterpiece and complemented the landscape and garden so beautifully. They offer Japanese and Western style breakfasts as add-ons for a very fair price. You can also pre-book massages with a local masseuse to relax in the comfort of your own room. There are plenty of animals on the property including chickens, cats, and dogs. The cats and dogs were well socialised and loved a good pat. You could even request them to join you for breakfast (which of course I did). This whole experience made us honestly feel like we were transported to Japan. The beach is only a short drive (or walk) away. I definitely recommend staying at Bancoora-in.
Lovely and authentic Japanese accommodation in Melbourne. David and Diane were very lovely hosts and accommodating. There are a lot of animals nearby to keep you company as well. Very clean and relaxing. Nice tatami and hot bath on each rooms. Definitely recommended for couples.
If you love Japanese garden and traditional building, you will love all the details you could find in this hidden Gem. Here are few lovely details that show the passion infused into this place; the roof tile design (tidal waves), the dragon scale pressed copper wall, the orientation of the building to accommodate sunlight, the true wooden frame (no nails used), the material, size and depth of the bath, and the list can go on. It has all the essence of Japanese traditional architecture. I look forward to come back again.
The Surf Coast’s best kept secret. “Authentic” perfectly sums it up. From the extremely friendly and down to earth hosts to a traditional Japanese roof built by a 4th generation tiler from Kyoto. The stunning landscaping works are only bettered by the luxurious rooms with authentic tatami flooring, black granite and oversized baths. Dianne & David hats off to you both for creating this oasis! We will certainly be back soon!
10/10 flawless romantic weekend away experience. My boyfriend and I love going to bnbs for a weekend getaway in different parts of Victoria and this has been our favourite place to date. The spa/onsen is beyond amazing. The sheets on the bed are luxurious and natural and soft. They capture the spirit of Japan very well and respectfully, not in a tacky way at all. And there are two friendly cats to pat to boot! We like trying new places....but we may have to make a habit of coming here! P.S. I acknowledge it is pricey compared to a lot of places. But value for money wise it is very good. Worth every cent.
