Waurn Ponds Library

As a first time visitor to this location it was easy enough to find in general and I had certainly previously driven past the complex. Parking was simple even though the car park was busy. I soon spotted the library building and sussed out the entrance from my car. It was raining , I didn’t want to be walking around trying to find it 🙂 I guess depending on where you park or how you approach the building, the entrance is slightly obscure. This library is much smaller than I had anticipated. I don’t know why I assumed it would be bigger 😁 Lovely layout and a definite focus on kids with an area dedicated to them. I’ll blame the terrible weather and it being busy but geez, I found the car park confusing to exit from! I didn’t know which way to turn.

It’s a great library with wonderful service! It’s a great place to encourage your child to do reading! Half an hour a day reading in the library really helps my child develop a habit of reading and a love of reading! I also love spending time there reading, entering into authors’ imagination worlds!

A very smart library & facilities. Lovely staff. Can I just suggest that for future information sessions that tea/ coffee are offered beforehand, please? The information about Internet safety was excellent; but I was thirsty & starving by the end. Participants could have chatted over refreshments earlier rather than ‘meandering about’ waiting.

A Disappointing Experience at What's Supposed to Be a Quiet Refuge. Unfortunately, my recent visit to the Waurn ponds Library was far from the quiet, focused environment one would expect from such an establishment. Instead of a sanctuary for reading and learning, the library atmosphere resembled that of a noisy daycare, with children's screams piercing through every corner. It's challenging to understand how this setting is conducive to study or peaceful reading. While I am a strong supporter of engaging children with libraries and literature from a young age, there needs to be a balance that also respects the needs of other patrons seeking a quiet space. I hope to see improvements in how the library manages its space to cater to all visitors effectively.

The library is very modern and children friendly. The computers and consoles they have to use are great, I found that they didn’t have a very big range of books compared to other libraries I’ve been to, but you can definitely find something that relates to what your looking for. If you can’t find what your looking for I find that the library in Geelong is great. Apart from that the library is pretty good.
