The Pier Geelong

A magnificent location, well presented facilities. Attended a sponsored formal dinner (sponsored by Caterpillar). The staff were great, the food was fantastic, while the atmosphere was tremendous. Entrees were pumpkin gnocchi and barramundi, while the mains were chicken and eye fillet. The bar above is quiet pleasant and the whole area is a nice place for a quiet stroll, a vigorous walk or jog.

A fun spot to relax, people watch, catch the ferry to Melbourne, free WiFi, if, like me, you are visiting from another country and don’t have a data plan on your phone. Even caught a small antique car display here one day during one of my visits in Jan 2920. People were pretty friendly in general and I was able to lay on the grass, take in some sun while napping, and not once did I worry about my safety or my bicycle. Fun spot to take young kids too, plenty of places for food and drink and great spots for pictures.

A very calm atmosphere and a view. You can park the car inside the pier and its like going into the sea. Picnic area is nice and clean. Make sure to bring a picnic mat with you.

PreCovid visit - the entire family took a leisurely train ride across metropolitan Melbourne on a weekend to visit Geelong town. Walked through the main city block with lots of photos taken. Spent a bit of time by the seaside. Nice place to visit as a day trip by train. Highly recommended!
